It felt like I basically searched for “Best Wearable Breast Pump” and “Elvie vs Willow“ more times than my search history could hold. I scoured Facebook groups, and read countless blogs to try to answer the question before I gave up what felt like a left leg to buy an expensive wearable breast pump.
So like everything in my blog, this is my opinion on the best wearable breast pump: Elvie vs Willow 3.0.
Best Wearable Breast Pump
I was looking for the following attributes of a wearable breast pump to categorize as the “best wearable breast pump for me”:
- Good output (and therefore good suction)
- Quiet (pump on the go)
- Discreet (let’s be honest though, neither is)
- Leak Free and Hands Free
- Comfortable
- Cost-Effective
- Easy to Clean
- Bonus: App Connectivity
Elvie vs Willow
TLDR: that depends on what you are looking for in a wearable breast pump and the word “best” is pretty subjective.
Elvie
With Hudson I ended up purchasing the Elvie after most recommended it on the Facebook groups I am in. Unfortunately, I found them to be really disappointing. The Elvie app was never accurate, the suction was really not great, they leaked with the slightest movement, and my output was a fraction of what it was with my spectra. What a bummer for how expensive they are.
Willow 3.0
With Charlie I decided to invest in the Willow 3.0, especially knowing I would be chasing around a toddler. What a game-changer! While it does have some adjustment / learning curve, I am starting to get the hang of it and LOVE it. The suction is fabulous, it stays on based on the suction technology, you can pump into bags or containers, the app is super accurate, totally leak free when you use the bags, and actually compares to my spectra output. The bummer part is that the bags are expensive. I am utilizing my Amazon Baby Registry discount to stock up while I can or buy second hand off of apps like Mercari.
I’ll also add, I had an issue with one of my parts on my Willow, and the app lead me through troubleshooting and within an hour I got a notification a replacement part was in the mail. Talk about incredible customer service!
Comparing Elvie vs Willow 3.0
Now when I throw them into a table, they are pretty comparable, which is probably why opinions are all over the board on this one and you have to pick which categories are deal breakers and which aren’t, for you! For me, output is the deal breaker next to leak free and hands free.
